Announcing FreeWill's SOC2 Type 2 Certification
I'm thrilled to share some exciting news: FreeWill has achieved SOC2 Type 2 compliance. This is a significant accomplishment in our security protocols as we continue our journey in serving nonprofits, financial institutions, donors, and will-makers around the country using FreeWill’s services to make an accessible, secure, and entirely free, estate plan.
At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to providing innovative solutions that empower our users, all while safeguarding their data and privacy. SOC2 (System and Organization Controls 2) Type 2 compliance demonstrates our dedication to upholding the highest standards of security in everything we do.
Our team has dedicated many months of diligent work to this process, which is why I am especially proud of our team for reaching compliance with zero exceptions, affirming that our security measures, internal policies, and response plans meet the highest standard.
So what is SOC2 Type 2 compliance?
SOC (System and Organization Controls), developed by AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), evaluates cloud service providers' security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. It imposes requirements to manage and protect sensitive data, ensuring robust systems to mitigate risks. Type 2, the highest level of compliance, involves independent auditors assessing security controls' effectiveness over a continuous period of time.
